Modern Kitchen Designs in the News – Big, Bold and Beautiful

modern kitchen designsModern kitchens are big, bold and beautiful according to the latest in kitchen contractor news. Modern kitchen designs have a very ‘open’ floor plan with lots of space in which to move about and plenty of windows to let in the sunshine.

There are two ways a kitchen could become big and bold, and one of those ways is to be completely gutted and redone from the ground up. This would be a complete remodeling job and would start with new floor plans, designs and take everything out of the old kitchen in order to make room for the new items. Walls could be torn down and an entire new kitchen would be left in its place.

The other way to remodel a kitchen is more cost effective and uses most of the same items; however some of them are altered slightly. Beginning with white kitchen designs such as for kitchen cabinets, the cabinet ‘faces’ or doors are taken off and either resurfaced, repainted or redone in some manner to make them look like a different cabinet all together. This is very cost effective because no one really sees a new cabinet inside and if it is still good, holding up well and serving its purpose after many years, why not save some money and simply redo the ‘face’ of the cabinets. Some kitchen cabinets are made to look as if they have a frosted ‘glass’ in them while others are simply repainted to match the new color scheme of the kitchen.

Your house is your castle and you want to make it a showcase and a place you yourself want to spend time in, so making the kitchen a top priority kitchen remodeling project is a good idea, even in these economic hard times. There are ways in which to save money when remodeling your kitchen and one is to go with resurfacing cabinets instead of purchasing entire new cabinets. Another place to save money is in the counter tops. Many countertops are cut to size and countertop stores have smaller pieces left over. Your contractor could make a deal for a smaller piece or several smaller pieces that are similar but slightly different to give your new kitchen a unique look while saving you some money on the remodeling job.

Many people save money after a remodeling job has been completed and that is when they begin to decorate their new kitchen. Choosing to use candles instead of pricey lamps in a small corner, using beautiful patterned sheets to make their own curtains and drapes for windows and doors and framing children’s art work for the walls are all good ideas to save money on home décor for a kitchen once it’s been updated and remodeled.
